Ladies and Gentlemen! My name is Glimmar and I have great pleasure in presenting to you my dark, alternative, Victorian sci-fi theme pack...I dare to call it Steampunk ...hence the title of my establishment... 'Glimmar's Steampunk'. If you are looking to build epic constructions in a retro-classical industrial style, then as proprietor, I invite you to waste a moment of your time within. Bear witness to scenes of wonder, arcane devices and even [gasp] 'moving picture shows'! Step inside...

.....Glimmar's Steampunk 64x v11.1 for 1.5.1/1.5.2
It's been a long time in the making, and it's been around since the middle of 2010 on the Texture Pack Section of the Minecraft Forums...making it one of the oldest texture packs still supported by it's original creator...me...Glimmar!

.....Megalomania Inc.
When using this pack, think like a 'megalomaniac' and dominate your world with cast iron, brass, copper, marble, tile, stone, brick and concrete! Many of my blocks and some paintings are animated, not just decoratively so, but in such a way as to make them useful for large scale builds...rotating wheels, cogs, flowing pulses of arcane energy, control panels, stained glass and much more. All the things you need to bring a secret lair, dirigible, nautilus submarine, battleship, fortress, city...your empire...to life!

.....Do I Need Flying Goggles?
...If you're currently flying rather high and not in a pressurized cabin...get them on now, man! What were you thinking?! ...Pish posh! You don't need them to survive this pack. Just because the theme is Steampunk, doesn't mean it's all brass machines and cogs...though you'll certainly find plenty of those here. This pack also contains a very large collection of random plants and foliage and many classical, architectural 'connected textures' to make your retro blocky world as believable as can be.
In addition, I've worked hard to make textures which look good from any distance...with or without your monocle...and appropriate to the theme's time period, ie. unnaturally annoying repetitive patterns are kept to an absolute minimum, so those enormous flights of fanciful engineering don't look like chequered 'Harris Tweed' when hovering aloft in your private airship.

.....Current Project Status
I am focused on upscaling my long established 32x pack to 64x and most new textures and animations I make are now first made at 64x. My version 11 download is a fully working 64x version for MC 1.5.1, with some upscaled 32x terrain and item features from my original pack and some fan donated textures, but I'm still missing an ender dragon...sorry! It is packed with a large and growing number of animated blocks and 'Connected Textures'. This is very much a constant work in progress and I'm always trying to improve things where I can...when I can. Support for my 32x pack is not being abandoned, but will take some time to muster the enthusiasm to update it for 1.5.1. :(

.....Things to Come

.....Welcome to My Secret Lair
For more information, up-to-date changelog including, latest videos and screens, lots of alternative textures and extra mod support, please visit my 'Minecraft Forums' Texture Pack thread:

.....Using This Well Oiled Precision Machine
Once downloaded, the texture pack zip goes in the Minecraft texture pack folder, and like most HD texture packs, requires MC Patcher to roll with a full head of steam: MC Patcher link.
MC Patcher makes use of many extra custom features I've created - better skies, biome colors, lighting and HD font. Many of my terrain blocks, items, guis and mobs are animated...working craftbenches, pulsing furnaces, flickering electrical items and strange alchemical contraptions! I also support a huge range of 'Randommobs' and Connected Textures, for which you'll definitely need MC Patcher...even after Minecraft 1.5 is released!

.....Please Respect My Work, Chaps
...meaning you are free to edit this pack for personal use, or make videos and reviews, show screens, etc. with proper credit and links back here or to my Minecraft Forums thread, but you must not re-post anything online with my pack or '.png' textures included (without permission) or by-passing my threads by direct linking to my downloads.
Tally Ho! My fellow empire builders! When you have decimated...ahem... beg pardon... developed the land and built something monstrously epic, don't forget to cackle like an evil villain ...alternatively, just tip yer hat and smile gently with pride.

My pleasure, wolfehouse. :) Glad you and the family enjoy the pack and thanks for those words of encouragement. I look forward to seeing what you all build in your world...a few months sounds very promising indeed! :D
It will of course be an honor to see the old texture pack still giving some fun. I've always found making a vid is one of the best ways of realising a good build, especially during those times when things get a little monotonous.
Having had a couple of weeks off to catch up with RL with my own family (and work) I'm now finding it very hard to rustle up enthusiasm to start texturing again. :( My last update took it's toll I think. :)

I'm hoping to upload a new update GSv11.1 today to fix missing potato growth stages and dispenser/dropper tops. It will also have improved furnace top and topside textures.
I'm not quite sure what you mean about changing the terrain choice locally. Animated terrain blocks if changed will need to have their .txt file edited if you are changing to another animated block. If changing to a single non-animated block, then you'll need to delete the .txt file for the animated block you're replacing. Otherwise all you need to do to change one block for another from my extensive collection is to make sure the new block has the same name as the one you want to replace, then drop it into the 'texture/block' folder in the zip pack.
For personal use your free to swap and change the textures around as much as you want. Just enjoy and visit my Minecraft Forums thread and show some weird and wonderful pics of the freaky changes. Sometimes they can be quite inspirational for others. :)

wolfehouse Mar 29, 2013 at 00:12 UTC - 0 likesI can't wait to download! I am so excited. The only thing I don't understand is the animated terrain choice, god it gives me a headache. lol I have been replacing grass with wool...I know, I am a total freak. If there is anyway to change it just locally without compromising your vision and creativity, and will allow it, please msg me or email my user name at gmail.ocm. many thanks

Hi wolfehouse. :)
I'm still working on a large update for MC 1.5.1, so you're definitely not doing anything wrong. :)
Yes, MC Patcher does convert old texture packs to work with MC 1.5, but there are still some things (little .txt files) the author of the packs need to include to make things like animated terrain blocks and items work correctly. Those .txt files are not in my 1.4.7 download, but will be in my next GS v.11 update.
If you follow the link above to my Minecraft Forums thread, you will be better informed regarding progress. Not long to go now before I update and my sincere apologies for the delay...it's a very big update and the changes MC 1.5 brought didn't make the process any the easier. :)
