I've been trying to log into a forge server for a modded game that I have set up on my computer. It is regarding a modpack that I made. When I try to log in, I get the message "Internal Exception:io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException: The received string length is longer than maximum allowed (31 > 20)
The game connects to the server when I run other modpacks, just not my own. I can also play single player mode just fine.
I'm not super knowledgeable regarding this kind of stuff, and this is the first time I've ever tried to run a server. I've been trying to figure this out for like two days now. Any idea what it's referring to and how to fix it? If you need any more information from me, let me know what it is and where to find it, please.
Hopefully this Forum is still alive and I can get help
I don't have a lot of those mods and i did go through and check all of the mods in my world. My friend still cant join. Plz help. I've checked usernames for string length, mods for string length, connection type (In case that had something to do with it), worlds (maybe buggy entity), and reinstalled forge and minecraft and I still cant get my friend to connect to me. He still gets 51>20 error message.
hello I a month ago I created a server aternos and now tells me the length of the string received is higher than the maximum allowed 19 < 16 how can I fix?

The Minecraft version I'm running is 1.12.2.

Did you ever find out what the problem was? I'm having exactly the same error, also in 1.12.2, with a lot of the same mods

SCP: Lockdown Heavy Containment Zone Expansion (by scootyboooooty) has an ID that is too long, remove it and it should work

Could you create a list of mods and a pastebin with the logs from both client and server?
