tried to reinstall both apps, curseforge and minecraft, and i don't understand why curseforge can't recognise that minecraft is in my computer... it keeps telling me i have to have minecraft installed but i already do i don't understand
I have the same issue and I'm literally looking at this for the answer but I'm guessing no one has responded, my friends are all playing a server, and it's not working and saying Minecraft isn't installed and when I click Minecraft instead of telling me to install it, it asks me where I would like to put my mods and then any folder I choose, even the one it recommends, says invalid installation path. I've tried everything at this point and none of its working so if anyone knows please tell me
🤦♂️ Guys when you download a modpack it says 1 modpack installed! Meaning it shows how many modpacks are installed not if MC is installed... Also when u download a modpack and press play it opens Minecraft.
If I recall (forgive me, my memory is really rotten), I clicked Minecraft on the list of games, despite CurseForge saying Minecraft is not installed. I got a window asking me about where the folder is (where Curseforge is going to put all these modded things), clicked custom, but left what was there intact, clicked OK (or accept or similar), then it set it up and started working.
Same issue on Windows 7. Launcher is installed to D:\ZipPrograms\Minecraft\NewLauncher\, but neither autodetect nor scanning the D drive nor adding it manually works correctly.

Hey guys I've been trying to get curseforge running on my PC for about 4 days and it just sucks a**.
There's other launchers not attached to twitch that work for mods and so far are much simpler to use...
In my case I am ostly want to play FTB mods like stoneblock or sky factory and they have their own mod launcher on their website.

You will still need forge installed to run the mods but not the curseforge garbage app

In reply to Vortex9k:
not what they are referencing... When you first start curseforge it shows the games they have... Minecraft is not installed there
noooooo!!!!!!! I have the same problem and was hoping someone else had the answer ;-; someone needs to provide an answer!
You all need to get more bug literate.

Hopefully that helps.
