From what I understand about this if another project that is active, in the works, not approved or even Deleted has the same slug its denied. I did find this on the CF Discord:
Names/Slugs are unique per game sub-category and can not be shared within them. They usually are the same as the project name but are not tied together as they can be edited after the project is made independently from the project name.
If you start a project and it says the name/slug is taken, a project using that slug already exists. This project could be in any of the following states: - Not approved, No files. | Requestable. - Approved, No files | Requestable, under specific conditions. - Not Approved, With files | Requestable, under specific conditions. - Approved, With files | Not Requestable, under no circumstances.
In any case, any requestable name/slug will require the project that is currently holding it have been inactive for a considerable amount of time and the owner (if possible) has been contacted to transfer it. Only then you can open an author support ticket to request the slug/name be released for reuse."
So basically a ticket is your bet option for this.
bro I am stupid and don't know like anything but I thought it would be cool to make a zombie project with my friends, but I am too stupid to understand what YOYOK9 said so like someone PLEAS PLEASE PLEASE tell me a simplified version.
Basically if you are trying to make a project On the site, and get hit with something like "the slug is in use" or "Name is in use" Another user is using those names in their project. If the project that is using it either:
- Approved but has no files uploaded too it > You can request the name/slug
- Not approved but has files (Rare cases where a project was reported or changes are needed) > You can request the name/slug
- Approved and has files > You cannot request the name/slug
With that Keep in mind, When requesting the slugs, just because you want it, doesn't guarantee you will get it.
If a project name already exists pick a different name If the Slug (the part that shows in the url of a project) already exists pick another one.
