I am trying to install a new modpack and everytime I attempt to, right near the end I get a message saying "Twitch could not find child addon: 222961". The number does change as well, however I have only gotten 224237 and 2251###. I apologize for not remembering the last 3 numbers for the last set of numbers. I should also note that this happened when I was trying to install an update to a mod, which I then uninstalled and tried reinstalling to only to get the same result. I don't know where to start with this.
Ive been having the same problem with all mod packs for 3 days now, have attempted to install most packs (all the mods various, direwolf20 various, fool craft, and FTB beyond) at least 15 times each with no luck. Please let me know if there is any info I can give someone to help troubleshoot the root of this problem.
I am having the same issue. I found comments about his same issue on the modpack overview page for sprout an rpg modpack. Most of the comments there said they they gave up on twitch and switched to multimc. So IDK what to do but this is bogus. :-(
I am having this same exactly problem as well but it makes me feel better to know this problem is not unique to myself, but is happening to others. I do believe it is indeed the new update that causes this and I hope they fix it soon because I would love to play my mod packs again. I even tried to allocate more RAM and memory to my addons and modpacks and still nothing. I also had a problem when I loaded up a mod pack (Project Ozone 2) and I launched my world, it instantly crashed with the error "Constant server tick loop" and I could not launch that world anymore. I could make a new world and it worked fine until the next time I loaded it. It would crash. Now I am not sure if that has something to do with the new update as well, but I am very frustrated with all these bugs and errors happening to not just me but for everyone else as well.
Also having the same issue with many modpacks, this error is not specific to any one modpack. It is a Twitch problem, and because of the massive amount of people experiencing and reporting this issue, I'm sure they're already aware of it and trying to figure out how to fix it.
I have had success circumventing this problem by backing up my save files and deleting the modpack profile, and then reinstalling the profile from scratch. This hasn't always worked, sometimes it takes one or two attempts. I just had another "Error: Cannot find child addon xxxxxx" error this morning, and used this method to fix it.
I also have this error, there isn't any easy way to fix it, we are just going to have to wait for twitch to listen to our cries for help. Thankfully for me the modpack I was trying to download is FoolCraft and I was able to use the Technic Launcher to download it.
Having the same problem here with all mod packs I try to download. Have been trying for days now, multiple times on all mod packs with the same result everytime.
PLEASE FIX THIS CURSE/TWITCH!!!
Oh and before anyone says try switching to Alpha I always have it set to Alpha and I have tried all the other setting's and still get the same errors.
May have found a resolution. First go to there website go to minecraft then go to modpacks pick which one you want and then download it then you can go to the curse/twitch client import that modpack that you downloaded into the client
update: did work just need to delete the file "Modpack" from the modpack you downloaded.

I'm having the same problem
As am I- I'm on a Mac and wondering if it's a java problem? I haven't been able to download Java, I've tried everything I could think of.
Has anyone got a solution for this yet because i am having the same problem :/
Going to settings and setting 'preferred release' to 'Alpha' worked for me. Not sure if this works for every modpack though.

I'm having the same issue, however I cant seem to find a modpack that will successfully download, they all have the same child addon error.

Try with the native minecraft launcher opened while instaling, it works for me, maybe its a minecraft relog problem
