Simple as that. Creators of this abomination give zero information how to even get started, you are likely to die in the first 10 blocks of spawning in, because it always starts a new game, single or multiplayer, right at dusk. None of the controls work correctly, and there are more conflicts that cannot be corrected even you remapped every single one with unique combinations of keys. Attempted to contact creators about supplying more basic information for new players and server owners wanting to host it, and get an automated response that they "cannot be bothered at this time, as they are already working on a new project, and they will get back to you when they feel like it. "
Honestly, this makes Gregtech look simple and easy. At least he had the sense to add some basic wiki principles to his work.
SevTech ages is an amazing mod pack with well thought out progressions intuitively spaced out to provide a more long game style of play. I had no problems finding lots of info out there in the way of guides and let's play that where available if I became stuck on something. Let's not forget the quest progression which tells you what you need to accomplish in order to progress to even bigger and better things. If you were expecting to beat the mod in a day or a week, this was not the mod pack for you as I believe this pack was solely designed to create an extremely long gameplay before you even get close to the finish experience. You should give it a try now, its extremely stable and tons of fun. :D
TLDR: Play or don't play the modpack, no one if forcing you to play it. If you don't like it, quit the modpack and find another one to play and or play on your own and if you don't like it, don't play it.
There's a questbook that explains the basic progression. That invalidates one of your primary complaints.
Your other complaint is about controls not "working". 99% of optional button commands can be discarded until needed, as I and many other players do. Having broken controls is not the fault of the pack-maker, but of the mod-author. If you find a particular configurable button that is not working as intended, you should contact the mod-author with a bug report or manually update your modlist to a version that fixes the issue.
Your authoritarian stance on what CurseForge should and should not host is objectively wrong. This is not your platform to police, it is theirs. This content does not violate any of their policies, and CurseForge does not have minimum-quality rules.
Took you long enough to reply half year??? Srly??? And I'm not the salty one posting that it's the worst modpack ever. If you don't like it, go play some more Fortnite if it's not for you. It's just a matter of preference. Let me remind you that SevTech is one of the most guided modpacks ever, it it's the first popular modpack of it's kind. That's why it's so great. You're the autistic one if you're still playing Minecraft in your spare time and making forum posts complaining about stupid things that give no real feedback. This site isn't your school guidance counselor; you can't just complain about anything and expect to have your issues worked out. Even though constant complaining made some people rich on YouTube, doing the same on CurseForge will just get you shunned. So stop living in your parent's basement and get out into the real world and do something with your life.
Yo, king of the neckbeards. If you stopped your screeching for like half a second you'd realize that that's not even the guy that initially posted the criticism. Infact, that's the first post he made in this thread.
This modpack is interesting but it is far from the golden glorious gem you seem to want it to be. Its riddled with graphical glitches and as others said a criminally small amount of detail on how the progression works. Many things could be made clearer and less pedantic.
Now stop acting like a batshit crazy helicopter mom and face the fact that this modpack is mediocre at best
Ok ok ok, maybe I went a bit out. But remember, this is the first guided modpack of this scale. Yes, there's glitches, but that's Minecraft, and Forge, and some mods not being 100% compatible, and I personally haven't had any graphical glitches. Are you drivers out of date? Have you restarted your computer lately? Are you allocating enough RAM? (Just some common issues.) Also, saying that "Creators of this abomination give zero information how to even get started" is wrong, as you get the clearest path to start than most any other modpacks, like SkyBlock. Also, "None of the controls work correctly, and there are more conflicts that cannot be corrected even you remapped every single one with unique combinations of keys." Remind me how this is the modpack creator's fault? There's just a lot of mods with a lot of keybinds, and most people I've seen and I myself have gotten by just fine with not having every single one something different. Sometimes, using certain keybinds aren't even available until later in the game when others are rendered useless because you've gone on to big, better, faster things, allowing you to just ignore the old ones and put something else in it's place.
you are right, but sevtech is boring at the beginning, it's also hard in the beginning, but after 10 minutes you got the first pieces. i love the modpack as it has many tech and is based on world history ages. but it's hard at the beginning (but also in tech ages is hard, if you aren't a tech pro, you have to practice.) probably he hates modpack because he doesn't know how to open achievements, or doesn't know how to do them, he has to do some adventure on the world, to be able to play,
Simple as that. Creators of this abomination give (zero information ) ** opening screen tells you to press L. Hmm let’s press L. Ok mouse over some things and press E to see how to craft them. If some one has to spell out how to play mine craft. You need to go back to original mine craft and learn how to play. So obviously not ZERO information. **how to even get started, you are likely to die in the first 10 blocks of spawning in, because it always starts a new game, single or multiplayer, right at dusk. ** really grow a pair lol**. None of the controls work correctly, and there are more conflicts that cannot be corrected even you remapped every single one with unique combinations of keys. ** no issues here haven’t had to remap a single thing must be a PEBKAC “ problem exist between keyboard and chair”** Attempted to contact creators about supplying more basic information for new players and server owners wanting to host it, and get an automated response that they "cannot be bothered at this time, as they are already working on a new project, and they will get back to you when they feel like it. "** yea like they would waste their time on some one who can’t play mine craft**
Honestly, this makes Gregtech look simple and easy. At least he had the sense to add some basic wiki principles to his work. ** go play Gregtech and leave the good mods for those who can figure out a SURVIVAL mod. **
**This mod is awesome. You have to know mine craft basics to advance. I never needed YouTube and am up to age 4. Don’t listen to this hater he knows not what he speaks of.**
His post was directly quoting and answering the OP, how is that not connected or relevant?
This modpack was my first foray into minecraft. I had some trouble at first but that was mostly related to not knowing exactly how NEI worked and how to find recipes in there. Some quick googling cleared that up. Other than that progression is pretty clear and well guided. Each thing you do leads you to the next. I could see how someone would have trouble if they forgot about the "L" key, or didn't read the popup when you log in, but if you follow the quests it is definitely well guided.
Oh, I did also experience some trouble with keymapping some stuff, like I wanted to make a hotkey to open my backpack. Finally settled on ' and I just had to take some time to go through and make sure that everything else that was mapped to that key was changed.
Just found this discussion. I think the fact that how to do things is not just given to you and you have to actually work it out is one of the best things about the modpack. It makes it 10x more rewarding when you compleate a quest if you have worked out how to do it yourself through trial and error. I struggled when i firat started to find out how to make leather but eventually i got there and when i got the achievement it felt like an actual accomplishment to me rather than 'well done. you followed our step by step guide on completing the modpack, must have been so hard'.
I will admit there were some huge holes in the quest book at telling you what to do and where. One of the biggest ones was Coralium? I don't believe any where in the book it said it came from swamps and it took me a long time to find any. Other ores were an issue as they didn't show up where the surface samples said they were. Seriously I excuvated a chunk down to bedrock and found nothing despite the claims of the samples. Over all though I was pretty happy with the mod pack as a whole.
I will say the quality of the pack degrades as you progress though. By age 3 it seemed less planned and more "throw everything in there" and tons of the machines failed to work in the mod pack without telling you before hand. Especially the auto crafters, which I guess in the most recent hot fix might work? Though it was a very slow update, almost a year since their last change despite all the bugs.
My current complain though is I can't seem to update the pack as one file is pretty big at 78mb or so and the twitch launcher keeps timing out the download when it gets to that file. My internet isn't the best but it still counts as "high speed" and yet I can't update now despite previously having the game run.
