A mod filled with place holder items and textures with no purpose but to be given a recipe and purpose by the modpack dev. Just a library of 100s of NEI compatible items ranging from different colored cubes to orbs to gem shapes... some animated if possible. This would be a sought after resource for HQM devs who have lore and story behind their packs. Right now, if I want to pretend the person playing my pack needs to find a special Talisman that only drops from a certain boss... I have to rename and repurpose some odd bauble that isnt being used much from another mod.
NPC: "Thank you for slaying this dragon, hero. Take this valuable Tablet Artifact to the Wizard to forge a mighty weapon!"
Player: "Hrm, this "tablet artifact" looks like a Dense Iron Plate from IC2?"
NPC: "Uh... nope, uh... clearly thats the "Rusted Tablet Artifact", you can see by the name its been given."
The mod Custom NPCs has a lot of little baubles and items that I have been using for this purpose in my recent packs, but it would be much better if we had a dedicated library.
nice idea, but i with animations and textures, you are putting a lot of work into each item. which might not seem worth it as it will rarely ever be used. don't say that it's a bad idea, but you will hardly find many devs that will do this.
if you have want to request specific items, however, i could make you a mod containing them. but you better provide textures. i hate textures :p
I was assuming that many of the items would be just recolorizations of the same skin. Like: Tome, Gem, Pendant, Glowing Orb, Talisman, and Crown... would be the only models. Then there would be NBT variations that just changed the colors... Red Gem, Blue Gem, Green Gem, etc... It would still be a sizeable project... but we wouldnt really be talking about making dozens of different item models.
