That is still true. The unfamilar item is dropped only when it is the current item in the hotbar. I didn't understand the rule and then noticed when the item wasn't dropped.

I am stuck. I just downloaded the pack and I managed to start an island but I don't know what to do. I looked on youtube and it looks like there was an FTB guide but I don't seem to have that on mine.
I'm playing in "Gate Mode", and the Questbook says that i have to deliver 256 "Tall Black Mystical Flower" to unlock the Stage "Mystical Flowers" (Botania).
But these Flowers are part of Botania. How can i craft Flowers from Botania to unlock Botania???
I hoped that Agricraft has some kind of solutions to this, but i could't find any.
Is this a bug in the Questbook? ("Mystical Flowers" should unlock "Basic Farming", not vice versa)
I have been playing the game a system with Nvidia 960m and 16gb ram. My memory allocation is around 8gb. But when I try to play my fps is killing me. I get 30-50 fps. Is this situation normal ?
Floral fertiliser will produce mystical flowers, however I think that 256 tall flowers is a bit much through RNG fertilising (unless im missing something?)
There is a Sky Resources guide that should get you from any island to sapling and dirt, then the better questing book takes over. Search controls for the Sky Resources guide hotkey, make sure it doesn't conflict with anything.
Once you get your first black petal you can plant it in grass or dirt, then bonemeal to grow a tall flower, then shear that to get it as an item. You can turn tall flower items into 4 petals. Net gain is 3 petals. You can repeat this process as needed to 4x your petals (or flowers) each time.
Would also be useful to survey which lesser mods NOT to remove. BiblioCraft is definitely useful, providing a system to copy enchanted books. Open Blocks provides fans which is one of the way to move mobs in an automated spawner. Random things provides all sorts of useful gadgets. On the other hand, Endermen Evolution mostly is a nuisance (if there was a way, mid game, to stop Endermen spawning, that could be manageable), Ender Zoo is not so useful, and I don't know anything MagnetiCraft offers not in Immersive Engineering, Thermal Expansion or Ender IO.
Is anyone else having issues with the 3.4.1 version where even after completing the entire page of quests the next part (on staged mode) doesn't unlock... I've kinda been playing it off by just going into edit mode and unlocking the next stage for me and a few others who play on my server but this is getting boring real fast having to do it for every stage their is...
I am currently at "A basic factory: which says I need to complete Diamond spikes and Automated breaking (I have not only done that but completed EVERY page up until this point) but nothing is unlocking... when I go into edit mode, there's lots of hidden quests that just don't seem to unlock I'm guessing those are the unlock "keys" for the next stages... if anyone can help i'd really appreciate it otherwise ima just close the server and scrap the pack which would be a shame as I'm really enjoying it!
I was having the same problem with 3.4.1. Try the 3.4.1.1 update. It seems to have fixed the issues I was having with 3.4.1. I haven't completed an unlocking quest yet, but the quests I have completed are automatically being recognized. Also, all the broken recipes in 3.4.1 appear to be fixed as well. I'll post again once I unlock a new stage.

Searching for Recipes to create Draconium Ingot (Draconic Evolution) will crash your game if you try to select the Tab "Smart Output" (Tinker I/O)
