Thanks. Not sure the Elevators work would cope well with OpenBlocks which is already installed in the pack but locked under the oa stage. If that becomes a real no-go, I could just edit the stages file to remove the elevator from the oa stage.
I was surprised I couldn't craft HV insulated cables, which I can get LV and MV ones. Maybe the insulated HV cables are available only on recent versions of Immersive Engineering, or they are locked behind another stage. I will definitely have a look at the stages configuration file to at least know if there are insulated HV cables locked away.

That would be good information to have. Please let us know what you find.
Doesn't the manual say explicitly that HV cables can not be insulated?
A quick look at the language file for IE shows there is no such item as Insulated HV Wire Coil. It could be added by another mod in the pack if it does indeed exist.
Hi, looking at the stages configuration file, there is no insulated HV wires here. The Immersive Engineering book tells explicitly that insulated cables are available just for LV and MV. I found no facade block that would provide insulation. The only way to pass a cable through a wall withoua hole is to put a connector each side of the block (called a feedthrough connection). Anyway, my Empowerer wiring mostly works and as soon as I unlock the Advanced Mechanism stage, I'll have access to better cables.
Yeah, feedthrough connect, that's what I was referring to. That gives some free insulation. I guess that doesn't apply to HV? It's not a huge deal in vanilla IE, because HV is mainly for long-distance transport, but it becomes an issue in modded packs where you're actually using HV to distribute power to your machines.
Hopefully you find a solution. Thank you for sharing your findings.
Hello everyone, I run a fairly powerful root server. This is already running a Modern Skyblock 3 server with 100 slots. The pack will be updated regularly.
Modern Skyblock 3.1.3.3 Server
IP: yt-gamer.net:25566
I am looking forward to your visit.
There's this server that's listed on the first page of the forum thread. There is no official server, and I don't know anything about this server.
Well I just try my luck here since I officially have run out of ideas. I can't get this pack to work. It takes ages to load the game itself and when I try to change the texture pack it basicly freezes until I end the whole process. Same goes for when I try to load the map except for the fact that nearly my whole pc freezes or at least slows down and I can barely close the process.
What I don't understand is that basicly any other modpack I tried so far works fine, some lag a bit but that's not a big deal. The texturepack I use (Soartex) never really started any problem either. I already gave Minecraft like 6GB, so I kinda doubt it's on that end either. I would look into the crash report but the last time I needed to was years ago, before Microsoft took it over so I basicly have no clue where to find it, sorry.
I couldn't also find any other solution yet except for giving it more ram - which I did - and deactivating mods but found many comments that said the newest version doesn't have these mods either and I basicly downloaded the pack yesterday and also today in order to try to fix it that way.
EDIT: I have no patience and still try to get it to work, gave that game 8GB, still no improve....
Can someone help me even tho at that moment I can't give a ton of infos and details? =(
This pack uses a ton of RAM, way more than any other popular pack. Recommended is 6GB. That's for the base pack. You are most likely just going to have to deal with the fact that you can't get away with anything other than a 16x texture pack. There is one other thing you can try, assuming your PC is beefy enough to handle it: First, switch to using the jar launcher (Settings->Minecraft->Jar Launcher). Then, at the bottom under advanced, use these JVM arguments to make garbage collection occur more frequently and less intensively, among other things:
These settings should help greatly on a modern CPU, but may bring a potato to its knees. Please use JVM arguments responsibly. If these settings let you launch and start without a texture pack, then you may be able to use a better texture pack (32x or *maybe* 64x) by adding an additional 2GB of RAM (for a total of 8GB for the pack). Make sure you're changing the RAM settings for the pack, not in the global settings where you just added these JVM arguments. Assigning more RAM to other packs that don't need it can just make them run more poorly.
If these settings don't do it for you, or you decide you're too scared to try them, then you're just going to have to accept that you can't play this pack.
Well I hope my computer isn't considered a potato, it's basicly like 1-2 years old and can even handle witcher 3 (like not on high settings and such but still playable! xD), so I think it should help since my cpu might be a modern one, I guess? Anyway I can't even get this to run without me beloved texture pack (which never caused any problems tho)... that's why I honestly thought it's not the pack which causes it, even simply starting the map with no pack installed is kinda impossible. I even played SevTech: Ages with my texture pack, it lagged a bit but I didn't really mind too much, that's why I kinda don't understood why this one works while skyblocks refuses to work. =/
Just tried what you suggested and got an error message. "This Java Instance does not support a 64-bit JVM. Please install the desired version." This.... this is not good, right? Currently I don't know which java this monster want instead. I deleted the codes you gave me and tried again because I am curious what happens, turns out another error appears. "Could not create the JVM. A fatal exceptioon has occured. Program will exit" Does this give some infos to you?
I am sorry for being this terrible in such stuff, I know how nervewrecking this can be. XD
EDIT !! : uhm. it works, kinda? I installed a new profile on curse/twitch but without the map and texturepack and suddenly... it works. I don't quite get why... I tried this after installing skyblock 2 and doing the same but mainly because the texturepack didn't load and there was no map for 2 and I suddenly got 2 to run so I tried it with 3 now.... Weird.
Note, there is a small chance that you either don't have a 64-bit CPU or you don't have a 64-bit OS. If the 64-bit installer for Java doesn't work, then this will be the case, which is sad, but not a deal-breaker. You should be able to just remove the "-d64" flag in that case, although running 64-bit is vastly superior in an environment where a program needs more than 3GB of RAM.
That's good that you were able to get it to work. I won't know what the "fatal exception" meant without seeing the actual error message, but install the 64-bit java, use the JVM switches I provided, and try running the new profile you created (with 6GB of RAM allocated). This should run much better.
FYI, Modern Skyblock 3 uses more RAM than SevTech, and *way* more RAM than The Witcher 3, so it's not at all suprising that you could run those but have issues with MS3. However, I run MS3 with only 4GB of RAM (with no texture packs), using the switches I provided, although it's likely that this won't be enough RAM allocated in the late game.
Are you running 3.4.2 or an older version? I tried 3.4.1.3, had to downgrade to 3.3.4 because of lag. The Java arguments definitely helped stabilizing memory usage. But I would like to try 3.4.2 (latest one) + the Java arguments, to get Thaumcraft. Last time I downgraded, I had to completely reset my Spice of Life progression and remove the MegaLoots mod because one of the tools I got while I was on 3.4 caused game crash on 3.3 (just opening the chest with the tool in it). So I would like to avoid dmaging my map even more with another downgrade.
Afaik I have an 64 OS, Win10 something to be exact, don't know which version right now. About my hardware I am not so sure right now since this is a custom computer and my boyfriend actually chose the hardware which the site shall use to build it. XD
I now run the game with the usual launcher, no map, no texture pack and gave it 6GB to eat, it laggs in the beginning and according to my programm continues to run with 60fps currently.
I remember experimenting with java versions some months ago but have no clue anymore why so I guess that might be the reason why I have this java version.
Until now my only problem - beside the fact that my beloved texture pack won't work (seriously, I used this for many years now ... got so used to it) - is that this bad tree on my island refuses to grow and my patience level is pretty low right now. All I do is staring at this tree. XD
Thanks for your help! I know I am terrible in giving information, I am not stupid beside that, I promise! ;)
Repeatedly tap shift near the tree to help the tree grow faster. Also sprinting and jumping, but that costs food. The pack also has ore excavation (default key is the "grave" or "tilde" key just to the left of the '1' above 'Q'). Hold this button down while using anything that isn't a vanilla wooden tool (metal tool, a piece of dirt, or even an empty hand will work) and it will remove all of the blocks at once of the same type, and drop them near you. This is great for breaking tree leaves for saplings, or tree blocks while harvesting your trees. Beware that this will also work on the platform you're standing on, so be careful.
My attempt to upgrade 3.4.2 almost succeeded, but an Immersive Tech Improved Coke oven appeared on top of my regular coke oven and there is no way to interact with it or remove it. I'm searching on Google and cannot find anything, absolutely just garbage not related to my issue. This is by far the hardest and most frustrating pack for me because things are always, always, always going wonky since I started to play with Immersive Engineering. Maybe I shouldn't have upgraded the pack altogether. This is when I went from 3.3 to 3.4 that tings started to misbehave and now my map is just screwed up and I need to restart from scratch. I took me four months to reach the point I am in the progression and I really, really, really don't want to repeat all of this. Beginning of Sky Resources is almost if not even more painful than mining and the pack just prevents ANY form of automation until all sorts of quests are completed. I don't want to redo all of this because of stupid bugs nobody can solve.
The advanced coke oven comes from the time I spend in 3.4.1. It disappeared after the downgrade to 3.3 (because of unbearable lag) but reappeared when I tried 3.4.2. It reappeared at wrong position and was unusable. At first, it didn't break as well, but it finally broke with a pick axe.
Hi,
I just cannot make a functional mob spawner in this pack unless I spend ALL my time sorting mob drops. This is driving me insane. I tried with 9 hoopers to collect mob drops, but it suddenly stopped working. A range collector works, but there is no pipes available to collect items from the collector fast enough.
Thanks. :) Right now I even got my cobble generator and that cobble think that transforms gunpowder in blaze powder and so on. :D
So far I am happy with this pack even tho the texturepack still refuses to work. maybe somewhen it will magically start to work and minecraft will look pretty again. ;) But besife that everything is fine. Love it. :)
I mean, if you're getting drops too fast then make your mob farm smaller...
Use factory tech to move your mob drops around. The auto-ejector, transport rollers, and the three different stack movers give you everything you need to get your mob drops into a drawer controller and your loot bags into the bag holder block.
