I however, will keep trying to use sponge :) We use a lot of plugins there, and it helps tie the servers together with our network integration (plus, shops!). We run a custom fork of sponge, so I've just been tweaking and disabling things here and there when they become a performance issue. I also provided a fix for BedPatch on their github that will let it work with sponge (was actually an issue not related to sponge).
EDIT: not to mention all the sponge optimizations (plus our additional custom optimizations built-in) that make our modded servers not laggy :)
I'm really enjoying the pack a lot. I'm still pretty early on but its a lot of fun.
I would really like to be able to see the quest map so I at least know what to focus on to get to certain mods.
i/e. I want to learn AE, as I've always used Refined Storage. Unfortunately, I have no idea how long its going to take to get there, and I don't know if I should just focus on an elaborate storage system for the time being as its far down the list, or a more modest system if its just a couple gates away.
I have no desire to be overpowered. I don't claim loot crates at all, and I only keep the modest items from loot bags, throwing away anything that I think would ruin the balance of early game. I think if it were possible to do that it would really improve the experience of progression.
I'm playing kitchen sink mode because I find some particular mods intolerable. But this progression chart would be handy, so I can at least approximately follow the intended progression. For example, the project E transmutation tablet is really cheap and a good early storage solution. But dumping charcoal into it from trees allows you to sidestep bulk ore processing once you've made one ingot of each - this might or might not be intended.
I created a world in 3.1.1.1, and recently upgraded it to 3.1.3. I was playing this evening, logged out and then back in half an hour later, and suddenly all the quests are unlocked. This is staged mode. I tried reloading quests, but that didn't help. I've now upgraded to the latest version, 3.1.3.4, and tried reloading quests again, but still the same.
What can I do to reset my quests? I'm not that far through (just started Botania and basic automation) but I'd rather not have to restart if I can avoid it :-(
So I cannot figure out for the life of me why I'm unable to hit mobs(melee) when they're in the little mob room I built. It's just a 3 high at eye level so I can hit their feet from beneath slabs. Is there some mod or config preventing it?
I can no longer place saplings in hopping bonsai pots. The ones that I had place earlier keep growing, but if I break the pot and replace it I can no longer right click saplings into it. Has something changed with the pots? I am on the latest version 3.1.5 as of writing this.
Don't know why but Sponge is causing several problems on my server like:
I only use a few plugins:

Playing 3.1.3.2 in kitchen sink mode. For some reason the Ender Hopper from Dark Utilities is gated. It shows up under the Pearled Ender Hopper.
So is Random Things' Item Collector.

has gated mode been removed? Sorry, been away for a few months and have been unable to keep up with the updates.
