i have a minecraft server running using hosthorde and i want to add mods to it by taking them from the curse mod list however all attempts at successfully incorporating those mods into the server has been in vein. considering that there is no easy way to get server files for a modpack in curse unlike the FTB client, let alone a custom pack; i was hoping someone might have some answers to this question...
I'm using filezilla to transfer the files from my computer to the server on hosthorde
update: i have tried to change the config files and added a mods folder as well as a library folder that i got from a friend. i also got the latest minecraft forge jar and added that into the Jars folder while renaming it to "custom_server.jar" and changed the server jar file type on hosthorde to custom_server.jar which according to hosthorde that is supposed to work.
unfortunately it hasn't worked, the server boots up but the mods are not there but if anyone has any ideas or an answer to this question i am open ears...
You need to install the Forge files manually. Download the installer for whatever version of Forge you need. Put it in an empty folder. Run the installer, browse to the location of the same folder, choose install server. This will place all files necessary to run a server in that folder.
Rename the server jar(forge-1.10.2-22.214.171.1245-universal.jar for example) to whatever your host requires, then copy everything in that folder(except the Forge installer) to your Minecraft instance on the server.
For mods, I usually create an instance on my Curse launcher, then copy the mod folder from it to the server. Except for any client side only mods, like NEI, or mini maps. On first run, it will add the config files from the mods to the config folder you copied over from the Forge installation.
I'm having the same issue. A friend and I have been trying to figure out how to get forge mods to work for a few days now on a HostHorde server that we got and nothing seems to work. I'm not sure what we are doing wrong.
