Hi all, this morning I submitted the On The Edge modpack which you can now download and play from CurseVoice (http://minecraft.curseforge.com/modpacks/235179-on-the-edge). This modpack is still beta so mods can still be added or removed. The idea behind this modpack is to be a hardcore/tech modpack designed to make the struggle for power a reality that you have to confront. In addition powerful mobs will do everything they can to prevent you from doing just that. The pack is centered around RFTools and my upcoming Deep Resonance mod. Deep Resonance isn't finished yet but it will be the major powergen mod in this pack once it is. In the current state of Deep Resonance you can already use it for basic power generation.
If you have suggestions or feedback related to this modpack please let me know. I want this modpack to be hard but not impossibly hard. I added most popular tech mods as well as a few lesser known tech mods and I also included all the basic mods that everybody expects to have in a good modpack.
Hello, I saw that you that you included ExtraBiomesXL and ATG generation. What's the difference without ATG? Did you modify the generators.cfg to add compatibility between them both?
If I can figure out how to release server files then yes :-)
Here's a quick guide for the server, if you didn't figure it out already ;)
Get the installer for forge, run it, select install server, point it to a directory, install it
Copy your mods and config folder in this directory, delete ALL clientside mods (guess you know what this is ;) )
To test it:
Start it once, it should crash at the end of initialization
Accept the EULA in the eula.txt
If it doesn't crash anymore, you are set.
Also, recommendations a pack dev: Leave the server.properties and eula.txt, but delete everything but the mods, configs, libraries, minecraft server jar, forge server jar. Make a startup script for Windows (Mac and Linux maybe too) to start the server with an acceptable amount of RAM. Change the world type in server.properties to "ATG", so worlds will automatically spawn this type.

As far as I know ATG has built-in support for ExtraBiomesXL. I could be wrong though but in my tests it seemed to work perfectly.
Anyway, thanks for the other tips. I'll be sure to use them!
Quick question. When you say, "The main power generation mod in this modpack is Deep Resonance." -- Did you just disable all the other generators, or did you do something else to make that the main powergen?

No I did not disable all other powergen. But I didn't include Big Reactors to make sure that there are no easy ways to make a lot of power. With Deep Resonance you will eventually (when that mod is ready) be able to generate a lot of power but not as easy as with Big reactors.
However, regular powergen like the extra utilities generators, railcraft and so on still work.

Can't wait to delve into this a bit more. Will there be server files for this modpack upon full release? (Still can't figure out Curse's system)

Aw, sweet. I'll test it out on my own pack then :)
Just uploaded version 0.0.2beta of On The Edge with the following changes:
The pack has also been made available on the FTB Launcher with pack code 'ontheedge'
Just wanted to give you props onmultiple threads. Awesome mod list.
Thanks. I just picked mods at random... euh I thought a lot about it I mean :-)
First episode is uploading now. Just a "getting started" vid, but I can't wait to get into it.

Oh nice! Can't wait to see that :-)
Would there be interest in a Patreon server running this modpack? I currently have a Patreon going at https://www.patreon.com/McJty
Given a sufficiently high pledge you could then be whitelisted on that server. If there is enough interest I might set something like this up.
Just discovered that putting glass panes in a chisel crashes the game. I'm reporting this to the chisel authors.
Just uploaded version 0.03beta of this pack on CurseVoice. FTB Launcher will soon follow (including server package)
@Mcjty Hate to tell you but, you've got a known mod interaction bug in your pack. Using The Erebus with Iguana's causes parts of Iguana's config to not work. https://github.com/SlimeKnights/IguanaTweaksTConstruct/issues/144
Personally, I just removed The Erebus from my copy, why have an additional dimension mod when I have RFTools? ;)
Yesterday I released version 0.1.0beta of this modpack with the following changes:
Updated AOBD
Updated Buildcraft
Updated Buildcraft Additions
Updated Chisel
Updated Extra Utilities
Updated MalisisCore
Updated MalisisDoors
Updated McJtyLib
Updated RFTools
Updated OpenComputers
Updated The Erebus
Updated WAILAPlugins
Added Not Enough Wands
Removed CoFHTweaks
Just updated On The Edge to version 0.1.1beta on Curse and soon FTB Launcher once it gets approved there. Changelog:
Have fun!
