Ok. Maybe you can post a beginner's guide, so people can have an idea on how to start out and get a decent amount of supplies. Then they can go about the game however they wish.
I found out several ways of allowing more memory use for minecraft, I've tried a few either it says "cannot launch because java ran out of memory" or it says something like "you don't have enough memory available" even though I've check my RAM and it has 3.49 GB available about. Anyway, I'll wait until I can try it out on FTB, I seem to be able to run modpacks on there that I can't run on Curse for some reason, maybe cuz my computer is being stupid.
It seems like it's your computer either not having enough memory available or just not liking the Java version packaged with Minecraft now. Unsure, you could always try the MultiMC method and see if that works for you. I think PurpleMentat is working on a video for that.
i think i know what's happening here... IF you have at least a minimum of 8GB total system memory (RAM), do this:
make sure your curse client settings are set at minimum 2GB (2048m) , max 4GB (4096m) , perm gen 256m
now make sure when you launch and arrive at the Mojang launcher, to check to make sure all of the settings match in the vanilla launcher
shut down everything you don't absolutely need running to play the pack, even your browser, you can leave your antivirus or whatever running, that's fine. the curse client will install and run the proper version of java for you inside the instance
if that doesn't work try using the manual files and MultiMC and redo the steps, make sure you have the newest version of Java 8 installed, if that doesn't work, try the newest version of Java 7, good luck
I've downloaded MulitMC and looked a tutorial on it and how to install mods and such but not sure where to put the config, save file, script, etc. at. Also it was giving me that "can't allocate memory" thing so I did install Java 7 and it seemed to get past that but loaded in with no mods :/. If they do have a tutorial guide for installing this mod in particular or another one like it (with scripts and stuff) a link would be appreciated.
EDIT: If MultiMC doesn't work I'll just stop trying until I can try it out on FTB or I get a better computer, this laptop doesn't doesn't like me much anyways lol.
.-. it's official, MC hates me, either that or I missed something important in that video. Mods still didn't load up, gonna just try a fresh download of it and try once more :/
EDIT: I figured out why the mods weren't loading in, the forge installation part didn't "Stick" for some reason, and had to do it again. Loading up now, will update when/if it works.
UPDATE: Got the loading past the usual point of java quitting on me, froze up (didn't respond) a few times but so far so good, might be due to minecraft computing so many errors or what not, idk for sure as I'm script illiterate for the most part.
UPDATE: After trying again and again, it seems to freeze permanently at one point after several mods fail to initialize and when I exit out of the minecraft game it tells me it's java that has errored. So my only conclusion is Java hates me and I need more RAM... (I have 4 gigs total with 3.80 usually available).
As always I can never leave well enough alone. In this context, I mean that I changed the pack just a tad. There are so many mods I was apprehensive about adding more, but I just had to add one of my favorites - AetherCraft! This did take a few config changes due to the "skyblock" type environment, but finally I've got it feeling just as difficult. I restarted my world, deleted the wireless energy source encased in the bedrock and began the dirt/cobble grind all over again. This time though my cobble gen was up within just a couple of MC days :) I still haven't been able to get all the resources to start AetherCraft, but when I do I think I'll have more fun than ever with this pack. If anyone is interested in adding AetherCraft to their pack, let me know and I'll post the configs that are Davy Jones' Locker friendly.
EDIT: Also, if I do post I'd love suggestions, because I've really only done the items I've come across in the pack so far.
A friend of mine is getting a crash midway through loading. Has tried doing a clean install of the pack etc. Crash report is here Crash Report. I just downloaded an installed the pack and its running find which is rules out any issues with the download.
We can't help you without the crash report. Find it, copy the text and upload it on pastebin. Provide a link to it here and we will take a look and see if we can help.
Hello! I would really love to try out this pack, but I am having an issue launching it with the Curse Launcher. When I try to launch the pack it manages to bring up the Minecraft Launcher and then I am able to click "Play". It then constructs 2/7 Mods, and then it proceeds to crash and sends me back to the Minecraft Launcher with a Crash Report. Here is a pastebin of the Crash Report. Any help or advice is appreciated! Thankyou! :)
P.S. I don't know if this crash report has been previously brought up, if so I apologize!
I am looking into these crashes some are having. I may have to update the forge version, but right now my main PC is down and I can't do much with the pack since the backup won't launch the pack lol. So in the meantime I work on the next lightweight pack, more adventure based.
I'm not sure its an issue with forge. Both me and my friend who's crash report I posted are using the same pack version with the same version of forge. We are going to manually update it and see. It seems to be crashing as soon as the splash screen hits phase 2 of initialization. We are going to try and point the profile to use java 7 instead of the packaged java 8.
Edit: Using various compatible, older, versions of forge are still throwing up the error is trying with java 7.
Up above in the spoiler is my first video of my challenge series.
I've run a foul of the base mob grinder not spawning mobs, but when I have made another mob tower away from the base in a slime chunk, all is good
I meant a written one like what's online for Buildcraft and IC2.

This is what happens when I try it on Curse launcher:

If you can help me overcome this problem, I'd much appreciate it, I'm dying from anticipation of being able to play this mod pack.

It says MAC/Linux but it works for anyone using MultiMC

Yeah I would bet you need a bit more ram to keep your system running.
I fixed the Mob Spawning tower at the base, by moving off base...

@Worgs,I had/having the same problem here, also I look forward to your next pack Tedy, hopefully that one works for me.
Try with the latest forge and Java 8 that's pre-packaged. I can't do any testing until I get my main PC back online
