It's all good! The modding community may be a lot smaller than it used to be, but there's always help out there! I remember the first time that happened, and I'm pretty sure I reinstalled minecraft, forge, and optifine before I figured it out days later lol
I know this is going to sound like a really REALLY dumb question here, man, but did your launcher set the game profile to the Optifine one after installing the optifine .jar? If that's the case, it's extremely easy to overlook because it happens automatically for me, every time I install optifine. I learned that last year, when I struggled to get the blasted thing to work bEcAUse APpaREntlY installing optifine to forge changed since I last played in 2016... anywho, if the profile in your launcher is set to the forge one(of the right build), and all your mods are in the folder where they should be.. then, well - I'm not sure what the issue would be, beyond that. I'm starting to figure out that in between windows, java, and microsoft's patch job on Mojang's coding, it is really pesky to even install just a few mods without breaking everything. I'm sorry that it sort of hit the fan, do you at least have backups of your world?
sorry if I don't sound cordial, it's like 4 AM here and I can barely form a sentence o:
