MC 1.16.5 Dedicated 4TLOC (For The Love of Craft) Modpack Server!
I hope you like the modpack! I set this up on the server so that you can check out the modpack with a couple of your friends. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This Server has changed over to "For The Love of Craft (4TLOC)" Modpack Version 1.9.2 Available for Download/Install via the CurseForge Launcher!
I started compiling modpacks back in 2014 time frame going through the original FTB launcher with a modpack called Builders Paradise that was created for my server (at the time). I learned a lot from that experience and moved on to another project called 6six6 for the MC version 1.7.10 in 2015. This was a fun modpack to make btw.
However, I ended up leaving the scene for a bit after becoming part of the FTB team and working with them on Custom Modpack approvals. This tends to wear you out after a while of doing stuff like that.
I started learning how to work with setting up quests and altering recipes to the point of creating my own content to go into the pack. As one of the two above modpacks is pretty much self explanatory, the other, (4TLOC) was a step out of my comfort zone. I've had an amazing time working on this one FYI.
My request is this,
I not only compile the packs but I play them as well to try and find bugs and general issues. But, as a single person I can only cover so much ground when it comes to testing my packs. I'm not asking for much other than for you, the Minecraft player to play one of the last two packs mentioned above and simply inform me of crashes and what not.
Are you up for it?
If so, please use the links provided above and read the descriptions of the packs so there is no confusion as to what you're getting yourself into. I simply want to create worlds for many, many of you to enjoy.
Thank you if you've read down to this point and I look forward to hearing from you. If you require more information, please feel free to contact me through this thread or PM.
Have a great day and may your keyboard always be warm.
Had to find one of mine. I broke it down into colors because each section needs to be correct in order for your pack to be accepted and for everything that you want to be included.
BLUE: Make sure the correct Forge version is represented here and whether or not it is the primary.
RED: This is crucial for your modpack information to be accurate when the users install it.
GREEN: These are your mods that are included in your pack. Each one separated by a comma. Make sure to double check to make sure that all the mods you want in your pack are represented here.
Here is part of one of mine as an example, I hope this helps.
You may have to go through and find the project ID# and click on the version that you're using then in the URL box, copy the file ID# and insert all of that yourself. It sux but it gets the job done.
I'm going to try and throw something together for new modpack creators.
If I leave something out just let me know and I'll add it in.
This is simply a quick guide to making modpacks. It is by no means the full extension of the inner workings.
(That is put up to the pack creators. The more you enjoy your own pack, more than likely others will too)
To start, a good modpack can't be handled like a bag of laundry. (Don't just make a folder and throw in a bunch of mods)
If you're looking to make a modpack to enjoy and like most other modpack creators you want others to enjoy it as well. I mean, what's the point in making one that no one can play right?
Modpacks take a lot of time and care. Each mod changes the ingame experience of minecraft in some form or fashion. There is another side of this for the creator. Imagine being like an auto mechanic. Yeah he may test drive the car but most of the time, he's under the hood fixing something. Trying to make things look better, run smoother, get more power or just fix something.
Ok, now you have a folder full of mods you would like to make work together right? Cause that would be awesome and it sounds like a fun time.
1. Most modpack creators use MultiMC. If you don't have it, I recommend it as it's super user friendly and simply a powerful tool.
2. Now would be a good time to make sure you have all your mod permissions in order. (Permissions are typically per mod, per pack.) Meaning, yes, you can update the mods as updates are put out. Unless specified otherwise by that specific mod author. (Usually they will let you know on their post somewhere)
Do you have permission for all of them?
Do you have screen shots to have proof of the ones you had to ask for?
Is the permission information IE: URLS and what not accurate?
3. Did you install MultiMC from earlier? If so, run the program and fill out the necessary information.
(You will end up looking at something like this)
4. Create a new instance.
(An instance is going to be your new home)
This is not a MultiMC tut so I will leave you with that. The rest you can browse around the program and pretty much get the idea from there.
5. Once you have your instance created, run it by simply double clicking it. Once it loads all the way to the main menu screen you can go ahead and close it.
6. Okay, you can now begin to fill it with mods by more ways than one. I prefer opening the instance folder then the mods folder. From there you can edit what you want in the pack in bulk and be able to hop over to the config folder by backing out of the mods folder and into ...instances/[packnamehere]/minecraft
From this point you can get into the inner workings of your pack.
7. After you have your pack tweaked to your hearts content. You have a choice of who you want to launch your awesome modpack.
There are several places to go from here at Curse, to FTB to Technic or what ever one you prefer as there are several. If your launcher isn't listed don't sweat it, Just lemme know and I'll add it.
Typically when modpack creators ask for permission to use a mod in our pack it usually pertains to the mod, not that specific version. Heaven help any mod author that has that kind of inbox lol.
So yeah, just so long as you don't change the mod or add anything else without first asking for perms for the new mod.
Update, to the versions your pack can handle.
If I'm speaking out of line on mods,....mod authors please feel free to append or correct this to help him out.
Again, you're late to work....as usual. Sweat begins to bead on your brow. Your boss had warned you about being late,..again. You can't afford to piss him off,..again so you're really trying your best to make it before you're supposed to be at your station. You see, he's threatened to fire you this time and you can't let that happen as you're the only one that has a decent paying job in your family. Your family....they depend on your check to get the bills paid and keep food on the table.
Sprinting across the street to catch that elusive yellow cab that you've been flagging down for the last block and a half, you feel yourself trip on something....or someone since you hear a grunt as your foot made contact. Everything slows down as if someone has a remote and pushed the slow motion button in mid air. Your briefcase flies from your hands in a comical fashion that on a normal day would have made you laugh at yourself.
This feeling is quickly replaced by fear as your face makes contact with the curb you thought you were so cleverly leaping over.......it all goes black.
A gut wrenching groan brings you from the fuzzy dark of the abyss in your inner mind. What is that? Your eyes are still blurry as you squint trying to see.....no, that can't be....is that a.....?
"Modded Minecraft tends to take a bit longer to load on weaker computers.....how good is your pc?"

Hello all!
I've been playing Minecraft for a long time.

As a true Blockhead, it's hard to stay away so I made my return with two new modpacks. Hardcore 6six6 and For The Love of Craft (4TLOC).
I started learning how to work with setting up quests and altering recipes to the point of creating my own content to go into the pack. As one of the two above modpacks is pretty much self explanatory, the other, (4TLOC) was a step out of my comfort zone. I've had an amazing time working on this one FYI.

I hope this post lives to serve new modpack creators well.
