Open Device Manager under display adapters you should have your GPU provider(intel, nvidia, etc)
}
FYI:{
newest java always performs worse than any JDK.
JDK always use latest public* version
}
Intel : {
1. (install Intel(R) graphics Command Center) from Microsoft store and open Command Center, then add as "games" the java.exe and javaw.exe under bin. Optimize both for best performance
(Optional If using curseforge, under Install add minecraft.exe.)
2. Under System>Display>Graphics add JDK or java (Optional If using curseforge, under Install add minecraft.exe.)
} Other: {
(try to access control panel for your GPU) if fails install one. Add javaw.exe and java.exe, (Optional If using curseforge, under Install add minecraft.exe.)
}
If still not working: {
System PATH is incorrect. }
(Optional add exe's under settings System>Display>Graphics>add-apps) may be different for other OS
PATH for JDK examples
1. install location under jdk-18.0.0\jdk-18\bin, or Program Files\Java\jdk-18.0.1

although that is usually the case, in this particular case that reply is inaccurate.

List of potential fixes:
1. Install a Intel® Graphics Command Center, optimize the games in the center, you can optimize java and other programs similar.
2. Install the latest(public) java development kit and use that instead of bundled java versions.
3. Check background applications.
4. open command prompt check if your processor speed is low (if so without editing bios it is hard to fix)
5. optimize system folders and subfolders(should notice 5 minutes lag for PC, causing the PC to working better in most applications)
IF NONE OF THE ABOVE WORK THESE ARE THE BEST HELP PLACES

run 1.18.1 without forge, then retry with forge. Fixes issues like this frequently.

solutions:
1. uninstalling and reinstalling the modpack
2. removing biomemakeover could fix it.
2. removing whatever oculus.json is
3. Other solutions could be using a better java version.

In reply to MykalDraws:
this is a java related issue, so fixing java would help and has a small chance of fixing it.

THEY REALLY DO use that space IF you don't fix the following:
1. using gpu instead of cpu.
1. using really old java instead of latest public JDK
2. not using a server
That should reduce by a few percent per mod,
Other tips:
3. FOR windows and potentially other OS,
successfully optimizing system folders (short term lag of about 5 minutes resulting in better long-term performance in most games)
4. optimize your gpu provider,
4a. by using a command center for your gpu
4b. potentially installing if you cant find

In reply to VeckerGamer89:
you can run minecraft on windows XP not saying I would do it, but you can.
I can get my sucky computer to outperform new computers when playing minecraft. If you have to much lagg its because you are running on your cpu.

Potential causes:
1. forge is only supported with 1.17+
2. your JAVA and/or JDK is old causing issues.
3. bad minecraft arguments...

In reply to pethros87:
it is likely nbt or enchantment caused.

debugging others modpacks is almost impossible right now, hopefully they fix curseforge's api soon.

Just switching to normal minecraft launcher until it is fixed.
all users seem to be having this issue.

Using old JDK probably is the issue.
