Sep 8, 2018Posted in: Modpack DiscussionOh well.. took me a lot of time to figure out how to get the ball of moss. XDI mostly google stuff when I am stuck and the given isn't enough for me. But most of the time I try to figure it out on my own, even if I make it harder or complicated than it should be, that's how I play such packs. :)So far I really enjoy the pack especially when I kinda rage quit after I simply cannot get something to work and go back because I really want to get that thing to work instead of like giving up. And yes it still bothers me because I am so used to this texturepack that the normal graphics look "wrong" to me. xD But well better original graphics than not playing it at all.

In reply to Timeslice:Sorry I didn't know this also works for the texturepack I thought this solution was only for the main modpack which works totally fine. It's really only the texturepack that doesn't want to work right now.okay so right now I have no idea what's wrong, I installed this java and it still says it's not the right one but... it is.
I give up on that one. That's just a waste of time i guess, better no texturepack than no game at all.
Thank you that you tried to help tho. ;)

So I am still sad about the fact that I can't install the texturepack that I love.
So after I got patient and got the game to run (nearly finished one quest site ;D ) I tried again and just let the thing load.
It crashed and showed this:
The game crashed whilst updating screen events
Error: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded
Only a guess: does this mean 6GB ram are not enough for this pack including the texturepack? The modpack itself runs fine with 6gb, few laggs every now and then but mostly solid 60fps and no prblems at all.
If so: what what you guys suggest? Giving it more, doing something else or even giving up an accepting that it won't look like I want it to look.

In reply to Timeslice:Thanks. :) Right now I even got my cobble generator and that cobble think that transforms gunpowder in blaze powder and so on. :DSo far I am happy with this pack even tho the texturepack still refuses to work. maybe somewhen it will magically start to work and minecraft will look pretty again. ;) But besife that everything is fine. Love it. :)

Afaik I have an 64 OS, Win10 something to be exact, don't know which version right now. About my hardware I am not so sure right now since this is a custom computer and my boyfriend actually chose the hardware which the site shall use to build it. XD
I now run the game with the usual launcher, no map, no texture pack and gave it 6GB to eat, it laggs in the beginning and according to my programm continues to run with 60fps currently.
I remember experimenting with java versions some months ago but have no clue anymore why so I guess that might be the reason why I have this java version.
Until now my only problem - beside the fact that my beloved texture pack won't work (seriously, I used this for many years now ... got so used to it) - is that this bad tree on my island refuses to grow and my patience level is pretty low right now. All I do is staring at this tree. XD
Thanks for your help! I know I am terrible in giving information, I am not stupid beside that, I promise! ;)

In reply to Timeslice:Well I hope my computer isn't considered a potato, it's basicly like 1-2 years old and can even handle witcher 3 (like not on high settings and such but still playable! xD), so I think it should help since my cpu might be a modern one, I guess?
Anyway I can't even get this to run without me beloved texture pack (which never caused any problems tho)... that's why I honestly thought it's not the pack which causes it, even simply starting the map with no pack installed is kinda impossible.
I even played SevTech: Ages with my texture pack, it lagged a bit but I didn't really mind too much, that's why I kinda don't understood why this one works while skyblocks refuses to work. =/
Just tried what you suggested and got an error message.
"This Java Instance does not support a 64-bit JVM. Please install the desired version."
This.... this is not good, right? Currently I don't know which java this monster want instead.
I deleted the codes you gave me and tried again because I am curious what happens, turns out another error appears.
"Could not create the JVM. A fatal exceptioon has occured. Program will exit"
Does this give some infos to you?
I am sorry for being this terrible in such stuff, I know how nervewrecking this can be. XD
EDIT !! : uhm. it works, kinda? I installed a new profile on curse/twitch but without the map and texturepack and suddenly... it works. I don't quite get why... I tried this after installing skyblock 2 and doing the same but mainly because the texturepack didn't load and there was no map for 2 and I suddenly got 2 to run so I tried it with 3 now.... Weird.

Well I just try my luck here since I officially have run out of ideas.
I can't get this pack to work. It takes ages to load the game itself and when I try to change the texture pack it basicly freezes until I end the whole process. Same goes for when I try to load the map except for the fact that nearly my whole pc freezes or at least slows down and I can barely close the process.
What I don't understand is that basicly any other modpack I tried so far works fine, some lag a bit but that's not a big deal. The texturepack I use (Soartex) never really started any problem either.
I already gave Minecraft like 6GB, so I kinda doubt it's on that end either.
I would look into the crash report but the last time I needed to was years ago, before Microsoft took it over so I basicly have no clue where to find it, sorry.
I couldn't also find any other solution yet except for giving it more ram - which I did - and deactivating mods but found many comments that said the newest version doesn't have these mods either and I basicly downloaded the pack yesterday and also today in order to try to fix it that way.
EDIT: I have no patience and still try to get it to work, gave that game 8GB, still no improve....
Can someone help me even tho at that moment I can't give a ton of infos and details? =(
