2 ways to get quartz. 1 legit and 1 maybe a bit cheaty.
1) Legit. If you have a good source of Botania mana, you can use the conjunction catalyst to dupe it.
2) Maybe cheaty or at least unintended. Go to the Nether and find a fortress. They are there even though it's a void. (Have a salamander's eye in your off hand to deal with Blazes and a skeleton charm for the skeletons.). Even though you haven't unlocked Chickens, there will be Nether Quartz Chickens. Use a summoning pendulum that you should have gotten from loot bags to gather a couple, breed them to a good number and stick a bunch on a hopper. (I just used a pen with a ranged collector feeding into a storage drawer. ). Quartz for days.
You may need to update again. There was a recent update that broke the planters. The existing ones worked but you couldn't plant new ones. This has since been fixed.
Anyone else having trouble finding a Slider's Labyrinth in the Aether? Travel over 9000 blocks in one direction with no luck. Valkyrie halls on the other hand are everywhere.
If I upgrade to the new version of Modern Skyblock, will it make me start over or ruin my save?
It worked fine for me. Had to reset a few preferences but that's about it. Noticeably fewer evolved Enderman though a few still appear even with everything lit up.
Another way to get sugarcane is Botani. Fairly easy as well. This is especially true since as far as I can see, to get sugar from rice, you need to use the crusher, which for me is not currently available.
Separately, I don't mind food being nerfed but it's fairly hard to vary you diet with Pam's locked down.

Just started a new world and the quest book isn't giving me the option to change the game mode, ie kitchensink, gated etc.
I've watched several videos of people playing this pack and my questbook isn't giving me the same options that the videos showed.
Can I change it manually or for that matter, what's the default?
Never mind. It appears that the option has been changed.
You now pick your mode AFTER doing the here it all starts quest. (Dirt and sapling)
