posted a message on Installing Modpacks Manually (not from the client)

First of all, this is my first post. If this is in the wrong place let me know and I'll move it.

I've had a lot of trouble finding info on modpacks and how to get them working. Once you get the client set up, it seems like it'd be easy, right? Just go to mods tab and click install on the one you want. Well, not always. My internet is slow so the client occasionally gives me a timeout error when trying to download a modpack. Or sometimes clicking install on the client just doesn't work. Since google is pretty useless at this point with results leading to unanswered posts or outdated info, here's what you do:

    • Go to "Browse Modpacks" and click on the mod you want
    • In the upper right click on the "Website" button
    • Again in the upper right, click "Install" which will bring you to a new page
    • Delete "client=y" from the URL and hit enter to reload the page
    • Wait for the countdown and instead of opening the client, the download should start in your browser

Getting it to work in the client:

    • Once the .zip file has finished downloading, select "Create Custom Profile" on the client. (found next to "My Modpacks" and "Browse Modpacks")
    • Click "import" and select the .zip
    • Wait for the client to install the mod like normal
    • Wonder why it was so gosh darn hard to find a guide for this

And that's it! This should fix any issues with downloading mods through the client while letting you still use the client as your hub for modding. Hope this turns up in google searches and helps some people.
