posted a message on Minecraft Forge: What Is It and How Can You Use It?

    No.

You need Forge 1.12.2 to install mods designed for Forge, which is many of them.

Forge is a "modloader". It's a kind of mod that does almost nothing but load other mods into the game and provide support to them.

You can mod Minecraft "directly", but then it's hard to run multiple mods, because if any two mods do something basic (like add blocks to the game) in a way that conflicts, then there's a good chance that one mod will break another. Early Minecraft mods tended to be "direct" mods. Modloaders are "direct" mods by necessity.

Using a modloader has the advantage that mods that are loaded through the modloader don't need to directly change the game's code, so there's much less chance of any two mods breaking each other—plus it's easier to develop mods in the first place because there are nice easy ways to inject game content that don't involve endless reverse-engineering of the game code.

Other modloaders exist. In particular, the Fabric modloaders has been gaining in popularity as an alternative to Forge that's lighter-weight and uses more elegant ways to integrate code. Unfortunately, Forge and Fabric aren't compatible, and can't be run simultaneously. There's a project to attempt to support Forge mods on Fabric with a compatibility layer, but it's not quite ready yet.

    In summary:

You need Forge for Forge mods
    Forge is a modloader
It's possible but less pleasant to use mods without a modloader if they're designed not to use one—but it's much clunkier
There are other modloaders out there, particularly Fabric.

posted a message on Lobby, Fishing, and Mining Dimension Mod

Do you ever just want to relax and have some fun with your friends? Lobby, Fishing, and Mining Dimension Mod (1.19, 1.18.2) allows you to do just that! This mod integrates into the game a new dimension, which players can enter and use as a pocket dimension to relax after a long day of fighting for their lives in the overworld. This lobby serves as a place where players wouldn't encounter any threats or adversaries, thus allowing them to have quality bonding times with their friends and foes as they have probably fought for dozen times in the overworld already. At the same time, players can freely explore and build new constructs for this dimension without worrying about any limitations. So what are you waiting

As the players walked into the lobby, they all gasped in amazement. The architecture was so intricate and beautiful! It looked like it was made out of pure gold!

"Wow!" one player exclaimed. "This is amazing!"

"I know, right?" another player replied. "I can't believe we get to relax here."

The players wandered around, taking in the sights. They saw a beautiful waterfall, a cozy fireplace, and even a fishing pond! They couldn't believe their luck.

Suddenly, someone said, "Hey, check out this mining dimension mod!"

The players eagerly followed the voice to a glowing portal. They stepped through and found themselves in an entirely new world!

posted a message on (Update) Lucky Block Mod 1.19, 1.18.2

As soon as I heard about the Lucky Block Mod, I knew I had to try it. And wow, was I in for a treat! This one block can spawn animals, monsters, other entities and even structures. From giants to fireworks, sticks to diamonds, the Lucky Block will give you an exciting experience every time you mine it.

I started by mining some blocks and then quickly placing them in a random pattern. I crossed my fingers and hit go… nothing happened. Darn it. Maybe this mod wasn't as exciting as I thought. But just as I was about to give up, a lucky block spawned right next to me! As soon as I opened it up, a giant zombie appeared right in front of me.

You had always heard about the Lucky Block, but never really believed in it. That was until you found one. Just sitting there in the middle of the forest, like it was waiting for you. You mine it and out pops a diamond sword. You can’t believe your luck.

You start to mine more blocks, hoping to find more treasures. But as soon as you find another block, a skeleton spawns right behind you. You barely have time to react before it sinks its bow into your skull.

    Features:

    Luck Levels

    • Lucky blocks can get different ‘luck levels’ if you put them in a crafting table with certain items.
    • The ‘Luck’ of a lucky block is diplayed as a bar from 0 to 100.
    • The higher the luck level, the more likely it is the lucky block will give you something good.
    • Luck levels can also be negative, 0 to -100. Negative luck levels make lucky blocks unlucky.
    • There are 3 Lucky Blocks in the creative inventory. One is normal, one has a luck level of 80 and one -80.
    • Only Lucky Blocks with a luck level of 0 can be stacked.
    • List of items that affect the luck level is under ‘Crafting’.

    Generation

    • Lucky blocks can now also generate inside of custom structues.
    • The current structures are a quartz ‘greek temple’ structure and a wreckage of stome bricks and netherrack.
    • Lucky blocks in the temple will have a luck level between 50 and 100, but in the wreckage it’s -50 to -100.
    • By default, there is a 50/50 chance a lucky block will spawn on its own or in a structure.
    • Lucky Blocks on their own have a luck level of -20 to 20.
    • Spawnrate back to 1 in 200 per chunk.

    Drops

    • Added 100 new drops.
    • A temple with 8 Luckly Blocks (rare).
    • 2 Lucky Blocks. One lucky. One not. Choose wisely.
    • A bunch of different types of fish, with a fishing rod.
    • A villager riding on top of a stack of pigs.
    • Horses.
    • A pointless silly message about grave danger and mushrooms.

    Other Features

    • 3 different wishing well structures. Throw in a coin, and see which with you get.
    • 3 trading villagers. They will offer you all the lucky tools/armour/weapons at a reasonable price.
    • Giant slime! Taller than the trees! Sometimes even a Magma Cube.
    • Lucky potion with random positive effects.
    • Unlucky splash potion with random negative effects.
    • Tamed wolves with different colour collars.
    • Tamed cats, with different colour skin.
    • Aghast! It’s a Ghast.
    • A witch amongst a cloud of bats.
    • Lovely bouquet of flowers.
    • A bunch of enchantment books.
    • Some useless, random and hopefully humorous jokes.

posted a message on Not Enough Animations Mod Adds More Life to Minecraft

Have you ever wished that Minecraft had more animations? Well, thanks to the Not Enough Animations Mod, that is now a reality! This mod adds a variety of new animations to the game, including animations for looking at maps, reading compasses, and sailing boats. This mod adds a lot of life to Minecraft, and is definitely worth checking out!

    Features:

    - Adds animations that were missing from the game.
    - Makes the game more immersive.
    - Gives players a sense of control over their game.
    - Brings back memories of older games that had these features.

All features can be enabled/disabled individually in an ingame config screen!

    • Eating/Drinking
    • Maps(Yes you can see the map content if your client has been sent the map by holding it once/seeing it in an item frame)
    • Shield placement(you block where you look, not where the body is rotated to. So this will rotate the body with the head while blocking)
    • Don't show items during two-handed animations(Hide the offhand item while using a bow/crossbow)
    • Boat rowing(No longer sitting there and staring at the self-moving Paddles)
    • Horses(at least act like you're holding the reins)
    • Looking at a compass/clock(this one is actually more eye candy for the First-person Mod to make the compass better usable, but won't hurt outside of that, can be modified in the config file to extend to more items)
    • Ladder/climbing animation
    • Crawling animation, replacing the swimming one while out of water
    • Smooth arm movement and transitions
    • Scabbard Sword while not in use
