hmmm... are you using the curseforge app? maybe try downloading a different mod, preferably a small, simple one to see if the issue is with downloading anything or if pixelmon (or other bigger modpacks) are the problem. I tried to download pixelmon and it also froze at 42% but eventually got past it, so it's possible that whatever is being loaded up at 42% is too difficult for your computer. so try to download a simple mod so you can figure out if it's a download thing or an issue with big modpacks being hard on your computer. (if it is the latter, I completely sympathize, mine is not the best either). also, with it stopping at 42%, does it just completely stop and do absolutely nothing after? no improvement after a couple of minutes? or does the download stop/close completely? Just making sure it isn't simply a reeaaalllyyy slow download lol! It could also just be a bug, as the app is still in beta, if you can't figure anything else out, try contacting curseforge directly!
Did u found solution to ur problem? im facing the same and would like to know
Ok so I had the same problem, and https://authors.curseforge.com/knowledge-base/game-specific-support/2754-installing-a-modpack-from-curseforge was really helpful! I downloaded twitch, made sure Minecraft was installed in my account, and just downloaded the modpacks I wanted from twitch instead of the curseforge site. You might have to search for the creator's name instead of the name of the mod/modpack, but that's what worked for me. I also have a windows 10 laptop so hopefully, this helps!
