posted a message on CurseForge Minecraft Runs Painfully Slow with 12 GB RAM Laptop

I have installed a 140 mod profile so I can play on a server with some friends.  However, whenever I tried to join the server, the connection just... dropped.  No indication as to why, and no error code.  So I tried just making a new world and hoooooly RIP my frame rate.  Plus the client crashes every two seconds when I try to so much as walk forward.

Currently I'm running CurseForge at 6144 mb allocated to minecraft (12 GB of RAM total on my computer) with the following JVM commands I found on another thread:

    -d64 -server -XX:+AggressiveOpts -XX:ParallelGCThreads=3 -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=2147483646 -XX:+ExplicitGCInvokesConcurrent -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=10 -XX:GCPauseIntervalMillis=50 -XX:+UseFastAccessorMethods -XX:+OptimizeStringConcat -XX:NewSize=84m -XX:+UseAdaptiveGCBoundary -XX:NewRatio=3 -Dfml.readTimeout=900 -Ddeployment.trace=true -Ddeployment.log=true -Ddeployment.trace.level=all

I have no idea what this actually does.  I just figured it would help since it was related to RAM allocation and stuff, but this isn't working either.  I've seen people claiming they run CurseForge profiles with far more mods flawlessly with 8 GB of RAM.  What exactly do I have to do to accomplish this?  None of my friends or theirs are having trouble. :(
