    posted a message on Question About Modifying Block Properties

    In reply to Lolly2007:
    EDITED (I hope my many edits haven't been a problem):

    Thanks for the reply :)

    So the mods and materials I'm thinking of right now are (EDIT: Some additions since posting):

    Vanilla Minecraft (1.12.2, Forge version 14.23.5.2847):

    Blocks: Coal, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Emerald, Lapis, Redstone, Obsidian, Glowstone, Nether Quartz (ores and blocks)

    Tools: Stone, Iron, Gold, Diamond (Pickaxes)

    Thermal Foundation (version 2.6.3.27):

    Blocks: Copper, Tin, Silver, Lead, Aluminum, Nickel, Platinum, Oil Sand, Oil Shale, Destabilized Redstone, Energized Netherrak, Resonant Endstone (ores and blocks)
    Tools: Copper, Tin, Silver, Lead, Aluminum, Nickel, Platinum, Steel, Electrum, Invar, Bronze, Constantan (Pickaxes)

    Aether Legacy (version 1.4.4):

    Blocks: Holystone, Zanite, Gravitite, Ambrosium (ores and blocks)

    Tools: Skyroot, Holystone, Zanite & Gravitite (Pickaxes)

    Thaumcraft (version 6.1 Beta 26):

    Blocks: Essence Crystals, Amber Bearing Stone, Quartz, Cinnabar (ores, blocks, and entities?)
    Tools: Thaumium & Void (Pickaxes)

    Ice & Fire (version 1.8.4):

    Blocks: Sapphire (ore and block)
    Tools: Dragonbone, Desert/Jungle Myrmex Chitin, Ice/Fire Dragonsteel (Pickaxes)

    NetherEx (version 2.0.15):

    Blocks: Nether Quartz, Nether Amethyst, Nether Rime (ores and blocks)
    Tools: Withered/Frosted/Blazed Amedian (Pickaxes)

    Aquaculture (version 1.6.8):

    Tools: Neptunium (Pickaxe)

    NoTreePunching (version 2.0.20):

    Just the flint pickaxe, I'd like it to only mine stone and coal.

    ====================================================

    The progression I had in mind is something like this:

    Flint Pickaxe -> Stone/Coal Ore/Block
    ^
    Stone
    Pickaxe -> Copper/Tin Ore/Block
    ^
    Copper/Tin
    Pickaxe -> Aluminum/Nickel/Lead Ore/Block, Thaumcraft Crystals/Amber
    ^
    Aluminum/Nickel/Lead/Constantan/Bronze/Skyroot
    Pickaxe -> Iron/Redstone/Glowstone/Holystone Ore/Block, Thaumcraft Quartz Ore/Block
    ^
    Iron/Holystone/Thaumium/(Desert/Jungle)Myrmex Chitin
    Pickaxe -> Gold/Silver/Sapphire/Cinnabar/Zanite/Destabilized Redstone/Nether Quartz (Vanilla/NetherEx) Ore/Block
    ^
    Gold/Silver/Electrum/Steel/Invar/Zanite
     Pickaxe -> Emerald/Lapis/Obsidian/Platinum/Ambrosium/Energized Netherrak/Nether Amethyst/Nether Rime Ore/Block
    ^
    Platinum/Dragon Bone/Neptunium/(Withered/Frosted/Blazed) Amedian
    Pickaxe -> Diamond/Gravitite/Resonant Endstone Ore/Block
    ^
    Diamond/Gravitite/Void/(Ice/Fire)Dragonsteel
    Pickaxe -> Any Mineable Block

    So each set of tools can only mine the next set of materials above it in quality, it's own tier's materials, and all materials below it in quality. I wouldn't mind learning how to just set the mining speed for any given tool material mining any given block, because I know there are some random extra pickaxes added by mods which don't have a recipe or associated materials which I'd still like to potentially include in the future.

    Let me know if you need more info! And feel free to point me to some resource to educate myself as well.

    posted a message on Question About Modifying Block Properties

    I'm not sure if it's best to ask here or somewhere on the MC forums, but I'm trying both just in case.

    What I'd like to accomplish, through whatever means would make the most sense, is this:

    Modify the properties of both vanilla and existing mod blocks (like ores from CoFH's Thermal Foundation, and Thaumcraft's crystals) to only be mineable by vanilla or mod tools of a certain material or list of materials (like vanilla obsidian and diamond, just extended to more tool materials and blocks).

    I don't really know what the best approach to making that change would be, or if there's some existing mod that would help me with this, but any direction or advice would be much appreciated.

    posted a message on [Partially Solved] Need Help with Modded Install Crash [Hunger Overhaul]

    So I've been putting together a large mod pack for myself, and up until this point it had been running fine, but since I added a few extra mods on top, I've been experiencing an inconsistent crash issue, apparently related to NetherEx. Here's the crash report and my custom configs, then some additional info:

    COMPLETE EDIT (Post was bloated and mostly irrelevant now):

    After a lot of trial and error testing, I've discovered the specific source of the crash, but don't know why it's happening. The crash happens exclusively when I customize the configs of the mod "Hunger Overhaul".

    Here is the crash report, my full functional config folder (with Hunger Overhaul's configs left default), and then my customized Hunger Overhaul config file which is specifically causing the crash:

    Crash Report:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/84m2c0fkkp2bcq9/crash-2020-03-10_06.04.08-server.txt?dl=0

    Working Configs (Hunger Overhaul left default):

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/rj6gvfwpl4ympjd/config.zip?dl=0

    Customized Hunger Overhaul config causing the crash:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/l46ytqjw71vjmbg/hungeroverhaul.zip?dl=0

    If anyone can look at that and work out what change I'm making to Hunger Overhaul which is causing the crash, I'd be very thankful.

    EDIT 2: I tracked down the config change causing the crash. I still don't know why, but exclusively when I change "modifyFoodValues" from "true" to "false" in HungerOverhaul.cfg (without touching the other settings that depend on that value), I get the crash linked above.

    Additionally, if I set "modifyFoodValues" to "true", but "useHOFoodValues" to "false", I get the crash as well.
