Catwalks 2
This mod adds Catwalks, Caged Ladders, Scaffolding, and Support Columns, each of which has both practical and aesthetic uses. Except for the Support Columns, they just look cool.
- Catwalks make you walk faster and can quickly be extended horizontally.
- Caged Ladders can't be fallen out of and can be climbed at almost 2x the speed of normal ladders.
- Scaffolding can be climbed like a ladder. They can quickly be placed, destroyed, extended, and retracted. When you use the builder's variety they act like tall grass, where right-clicking them with a block will replace them.
- Support Columns mostly look cool. They technically are ladders but are so slow they're pretty much useless as ladders.
- Sturdy Rails are self-supporting versions of normal rails that don't need a redstone signal to be active.

I just added this to my server/modpack (1.7.10).
There appears to be some client/server sync issues with the blowtorch.
When opening the caged ladders with the blowtorch I cannot enter the block, presumably because they are only visually open on the client, but still closed on the server.
Similarly when placing a builders scaffold it works fine, you can click it with a block which replaces it and you get a builders scaffold back. But when you place a normal scaffold and right-click it with the blowtorch, it visually turns into a builders scaffold, but right clicking it with a block just places the block against it like a normal block, and breaking it returns a normal scaffold instead of a builders scaffold.
I'd really like these issues to be fixed and released for 1.7.10 so I can use the mod properly, particularly the caged ladders are pretty unusable like this.

How is the development of the 1.8.9 version coming along? I'm highly anticipating the release of it.
I think I'm going to skip 1.8 and go straight to 1.9 since it's out already, and have been having some weird issues with extreme lag spikes with the catwalks. So not very well.
WOW! That sucks. I was really looking forward to using it in my 1.8.9 world. I feel that 1.9 is far from being any where near stable. It'll be 3-6 months before Forge is stable enough for the big mods like TE4 or AE2 to go over. I hope that you can figure out why you get all the lag in 1.8.9 and reconsider your decision. Back on 1.8.9, and after wrestling with the profiler I figured out that it was my getLightValue() function.
PSA: Don't do too much in your getLightValue() function. It lags the **** out.
There should be a release out soon, I have a lot of stuff I want to add to it so I'm going to make an initial release with basic functionality and updates as I add blocks.

Nice mod, good for aesthetics and utility.
Hey, a bit of a problem, the crafting material for catwalks and pretty much everything, that takes 5 iron in a X shape, conflicts with the wrench recipe from Router Reborn. Can you change the recipe a bit? Say put 1 iron bars on the top middle slot? Or 2 iron bars on the left and right middle row?
This is fixed in 2.0.3. Change to the alternate recipe in the Catwalks config.
I was unable to go down caged ladders
Were you holding a blowtorch/wrench? You'll stay in place like when sneaking on a ladder if you are holding a blowtorch/wrench.
Went and re-tested and I must have had the blowtorch in my hand, it is good to know about that function of the tool. Thanks for the heads up. this is totally going in my pack.
