Gadomancy
Hello fellow Thaumaturges,
and welcome to Gadomancy, a gadget-mod for Thaumcraft 4.
This mod contains some very useful and unique features to enhance your Thaumcraft experience. Additionally, we're focusing primarily on automation and adding choices to make Thaumcraft more feasible for multiplayer servers.
Another part of my mod is an API for other developers to easily add their own golem cores, something that Thaumcraft 4 left out for the modders for some reason.
So, if you're a developer and interested in that go ahead and read the API section.
NOTE: In 1.0.6+ we added potion effects and enchantments! Check the configuration file for id configurations!
Version 1.0.7 added the Essentia Condenser and the Book of Knowledge and the Ethereal Familiar Rework
Version 1.0.7.1 fixxes issues when scanning stuff and with the essentia condenser + adds some more clarifying texts
Version 1.0.7.2 fixxed wrong language file entries and a rendering issue with the aura core
Version 1.0.7.3 Severeal registry fixes as well as a minor rendering improvement
Version 1.0.6 added the Aura Core along with the Aura Pylon and Arcane Packager +
Enchantment Thaumic Sight and the Armor disguise
Version 1.0.6.1: Code-wise configuration changes. Update if you're having issues that the enchantment or potion id's are not configurable for some reason!
Version 1.0.6.2: Language file changes. Adds a more understandable description to the Aura Pylon.
Version 1.0.6.3: Fixed issues in connection with galacticraft and instability with potion & enchantment ids.
Version 1.0.5 Hotfix: Thaumic Horizons integration (Recreating golem bell id -1 issue in TH v. 1.1.9)
Version 1.0.4 added the Gate of the Voidwalkers and Arcane Enervation Emitter
Version 1.0.3 added the Ethereal Familiar (+ Upgrades) and Golem Core: Bodyguard
Version 1.0.2 added the Node Manipulator
Version 1.0.1 added the Mirrored Jar
This mod will need Thaumcraft 4.2 or later to work. (Atm Taumcraft 5 is not supported)
We hope the screenshot caught your attention ;)
TODO:
- You can just post textures or transtlations in the Github issues section
Screenshots:
Mirrored Jars & Arcane Dropper
Node Manipulator
Ethereal Familiar
Features:
An item that, after activated with a crystal cluster, scans its surroundings and changes its type according to the type of primal aspect that is found most. Or it indicates that the scanning process failed and it stays blank.
Aura Pylon:
Diffuses essentia into the surrounding area and things happen dependent on the aspect used.
Arcane Packager:
Compresses up to 9 items (the amount of each stack doesn't matter) into an arcane package. Right-click with the arcane package to get your items back out. The arcane package can be disguised as thaumcraft loot bag. The compression process can be started with a redstone signal. It needs pannus essentia or leather and strings to operate.
Thaumic Sight:
An enchantment for your helmet. When used, it makes nodes visible, just like thaumcraft's "Goggles of Revealing".
Armor disguise:
Infusion to make one armor look like another one. The process can be reverted.
Gate of the Voidwalkers:
Option to open up an eldritch portal with a special multiblock and the cost of 4 eldritch eyes and a bit more vis than usual.
Once entered, there is no exit until the eldritch maze is finished.
Arcane Enervation Emitter:
A device powered by Ordo essentia slowly powering up, increasing range and essentia drain speed along with it up to its maximum range of 15 blocks and drain speed of 1 ordo essentia per second.
Blocks protected by the Arcane Enervation Emitter cannot be destroyed by mods, no matter what mobs or however the blocks are modified/destroyed. It also stops Slimes from destroying farmland and stops creepers from exploding.
Ethereal Familiar:
A arcane Follower thats flying around you and helps you defeting your daily foes.
You can even upgrade its damage, attack range and attack speed!
Golem Core: Bodyguard:
Basically it does what it says here, attacking things that attack you.
Targeting is similiar to the Minecraft Wolf.
Will teleport to you if he is too far away.
Rightclick to make the golem "sit".
Node Manipulator:
Allows random manipulation of an aura node for the cost of 70+ Vis.
Some unknown results may appear that even the wisest thaumaturge doesn't know yet.
Mirrored Jar:
Multiple Jars will exchange their essentia and try to keep an even amount.
Right click on another jar to create a new network. If the placed jar is already linked then the item will be bound to this network.
Shift + right click in the air to clear the network.
Arcane Dropper:
Hover over it with a wand (Without Focus) to see its range.
All the dropped items in this range are part of the inventory of this block.
You're only able to extract/insert items from the flat sides of the block.
The block has no gui.
Sticky Jars:
You're now able to place rotated jars!
Compatible with the following Jars:
- Thaumcraft: Warded Jar, Void Jar
- Automagy: Infinity Jar
- Thaumic Exploration: Oblivion Jar
Silverwood Golem:
A new golem type with 3 upgrade slots (you can't make him advanced)
Stats are simmilar to wood golem.
Golemic Shielding:
Runic Shielding for your golems!
Does not use any kind of vis.
Extra effective with Silverwood golem.
Golem Core: Bodyguard:
This core will make your golem follow you and attack the mobs that attack you
or the mobs that you attacked.
The golem behaves similiar to a wolf.
Golem Core: Break:
This core will allow your golem to break marked blocks.
He will use tools if you specified that in the golems inventory
(tipp: use an entropy upgrade to ignore metadata changes on tools).
If you add a block to the golems inventory he will only break the specified block.
Breaking speed depends on strength and tool speed.
Fully compatible with the ordo upgrade (Specify which tool should be used on the associated marked block)
Infusion Claw:
You're now able to automatically start your infusion with a redstone signal
and it will store all your knowledge even if you're offline!
Place it on top of an infusion matrix (compatible with Thaumic Horizons)
You can auto insert/extract the wand from the top side and if you enable
the check box in the gui, you're able to extract empty wands only.
It will not accept redstone signal from top or bottom sides.
But this process will add instability and use vis from the wand.
The instability added depends on the used wand. Staffs are better than normal wands (you can't use scepters)
The best staff is a primal staff core with void caps (This will not add instability at all)
The best vanilla wand is a silverwood rod with void caps. (Rods with more than 100 storages are better)
You should always use a good wand otherwise you'll get alot of instability!
You can also use this to auto produce Crucibles and Thaumonomicons (who would need that?)
and this will not drain vis from the wand.
Bugs reports / enhancements / contact:
- In case of real bugs: We will only fix them if you post them on Github
and if your client or server crashed you have to add a FULL crash-report
- If you think we have to add a specific feature or change something just post that on Github too.
- And for everything else just send a pm to one of us ;)
Installation:
2. drop it in your mod folder
3. have fun
API:
Golem Cores:
Create a new class and extend AdditionalGolemCore and then implement all needed methods, read the method comments for more info
or just look at my Golem Core: Break
to register the actual core use:
GadomancyApi.registerAdditionalGolemCore(name, core);
Golem Types (This part of the API is no longer supported please do NOT use it):
Create a new class and extend AdditionalGolemType
example: Silverwood Golem
register: GadomancyApi.registerAdditionalGolemType(name, yourModId, additionalGolemType);
Infusion Claw: You can add your own behaviors to the Infusion Claw.
Create a new class and extend ClickBehavior
example: here (look at the inner class)
register: GadomancyApi.registerClawClickBehavior(behavior);
Special thanks:
to HellFirePvP for creating alot of features
to Shadows_Of_Fire for continuous help with supporting some users issues (Really means ALOT!)
to Redcreeper63502 & BBoldt for helping us create the Thaumonomicon Entries (Thanks guys!)
Modpack policy / License:
And of course your not allowed to monetize this mod in any way.
The entire mod is open source and published under the GNU LESSER GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE
You can find the source on Github https://github.com/makeoo/Gadomancy/
Just tested the recipes. I have to say, they work for me. Well, you need to have 1 elemental upgrade on the familiar before you can have an amplification upgrade - And, as mentioned above, you can only have 1 elemental upgrade and 1 amplification upgrade. Keep that in mind when making your choices.
Ah, ok. I see. Thank you for the info. Sorry for wasting your time, I should've known.
:P
I was fiddling around with the essentia compressor in creative and got this crash:

Also after trying some things out I have a few issues and suggestions.
First it would be really nice if we could place the book of knowledge on a research table for convenient thauminomicon access.
I had a golem insert some ignis essentia into the condenser but it started absorbing all essentia types from nearby jars, which the entry states it should only take in essentia it already has in it. Some clarification on the condensers absorption range would be nice, is it a 5x5x5 cube area where it can absorb essentia from other containers or is it a flat 5x5 plane set on the center level of the condenser?
The essentia condenser could use some more info as the entry states it can store and almost limitless amount but also says its internal storage can be expanded without saying by how much or how much internal storage it has to begin with. Maybe a meter or some sort of indicator showing how full it is. Maybe a way to partition its storage for certain essentia types.
Id like too see the condenser be a viable alternative to the thaumic energistics thaumcraft addon but its lack of pipe support makes it unable to interact with a thaumotorium :(
I found the passage in the text that confused you. It seems it still needs a bit of editing. :P
But for now, a brief explanation on how the condenser works:
The essentia condenser needs a golem to insert the first few units of essentia. After that, it will draw out essentia from any jar or reservoir that contains less essentia than itself.
If you insert say, 8 units of essentia, than the condenser will only be able to pull from containers that also have 8 or less units of essentia. The more essentia the condenser acquires, the larger the reserves it will be able to pull from, until no amount of essentia is to large (essentia cannot be pulled from other condensers).
What aspect the essentia is doesn't matter, there just needs to be some in the device.
Oh okay these things should really be specified more clearly in the thauminomicon entry.
How much essentia can it store and how much more storage does it gain from upgrading it?
Why is it specifically stated pipes wont work with it? Is there something planned that would let me use the condenser to keep a jar filled with victus/herba for the respective lamps? What about automated alchemy via the thaumatorium?
The crash you've sent will be fixxed in the next version (which will come rather soon and contains some more clarifying texts and so on)
The range of the condenser is 5x5x5, center is the central block.
"Why does it not interact with pipes?" - Well this was our/my initial idea of "balancing" a huge essentia storage. In that regard: Initially the essentia condenser can hold 200 of EACH aspect. Upgrading it can lead to a max. capacity of 3000 for EACH aspect. The concept behind this was a machine that provides huge utility when it comes to storing and organising essentia. Since it conveniently draws essentia from all around and does provide a huge essentia storage for the infusion, we figured that making it non-accessible with pipes and the need to start inserting essentia initially with a golem would be an appropriate way to balance its utility.
I'll give the pipe stuff a second thought, but i won't promise anything atm.
And as far as the book of knowledge goes, you can also just place the pedestal right next to the research table - so it's just as easy to access as if it would be placeable on the research table. And it's actual purpose is not just to access the thaumonomicon with it :V
Arcane pedastals dont look as nice in a wooden library setting or dark oak thaumcraft lab :(
Anyways does the ethereal aspect used in the creation of the ethereal familiar have any effect other than changing its color? Would making one from venenum ethereal essence make a wisp familiar that poisons its target similarly to how wild venenum wisps poison things?
Since its technically a bauble can you add runic shielding to the wisp familiar?
Just a question after my first hazardous experience in a skyblock and spawning in a void inside the outer lands maze the portal of the voidwalker is different in that aspect? that it lessens the possibility of the "known" bug in vanilla TC which has a tendency to spawn you in a void in the outer lands if there are portals near by... or that could be generally my fault for accidentally generating a chunk of the world in a skyblock...
Uhm.. Sooo... :P Is this a report of an issue that you spawned in the void and no maze generated after you went through the portal of the voidwalker? Or is this a question if we're doing something different than just opening a thaumcraft portal to the outer lands?
In case it's the second: yea, we're doing it differently and far more server friendly. It will generate its mazes into another dimension and deletes the maze after you leave it again. So it's specifically made for public ftb servers that have restricted world size or skyblock environments.
its more of a second question... the portal was fine at least... I didnt spawn in a void :3 and is it normal that it eats the node after your done?
Yes, the portal is supposed to do that. It's balancing as a price for infinite Primordial pearls.
Destorying the node/portal is also kindof a security mechanism that prevents 2 people from entering the same maze.
I know that this bug has been already notified, but there is an incompatibility between your mod and Thaumic Tinkerer. The game crashes when I try to read some random entry of Thaumic Tinkerer of the thaumonomicon. It's really annoying since I like your both mod, I really would want to play with the two in same time and not have to choose.
Caused by - i guess - ComputerCraft or something along the lines of it. TT has a special integration for it - and a thaumonomicon page. opening that page crashes your client atm.
Yes it's that. I seems that you already know this bug. This is really annoying bug I must admit.
This seems to be spamming my console.

That's an old issue that should be already fixxed. However, it doesn't impact the performance too much in the end..
My friends and I have been playing with Thaumcraft for quite a while, and we've got plenty of opinions on the various addons. This is now one of our favorites!
That being said, I've got a few comments.
- The information about the newly-added Aura Cores is a little confusing. Most of the times I tried to make one, I ended up with a blank one.
- The Ethereal Familiar seems almost overpowered. It fires faster than a normal wisp, and it can hit enemies through walls. I also occasionally see it floating around my head when it's equipped to other people.
-Sticky Jars are AMAZING.
Thanks for putting your time and efforts into this, even with Thaumcraft 5 already out!
Thanks for that awesome feedback!
Well to go through it step by step: The aura core only takes on a specific type, if enough blocks to scan were around it. If there aren't enough blocks (can easily happen with air-bases or void dimensions) the aura core will just emit some smoke to tell you it didn't find enough blocks and stays blank.
The Ethereal Familiar will be reworked in the near future to balance it a bit more and add more variety to it. The bug with the familiar floating around you instead of somebody else should be fixed as of 1.0.6
Sticky Jars are amazing yes :D
Aha, that makes sense. The Thaumonomicon entry said that, but it didn't imply that it was necessary for the actual magically bit. I didn't mind experimenting, except that it was costing me six shards for every failure.
I got the chance to try out the Arcane Pylon yesterday, and I'm impressed with many of the effects. Still haven't figured out what "Achromatic" means, but it was a pretty cool effect nonetheless.
We also unlocked "Gate of the Voidwalkers." We haven't made it yet, so all I want to know is, is this a separate way to enter the Outer Lands, or something else entirely?
D'you have any plans for focuses or wand components?
