Soul Shards: The Old Ways
Soul Shards is a simple mod that allows you to store the souls of creatures inside gems for use in a Soul Cage to summon more of them later.
In the current releases, you obtain a shard by building a small structure and right clicking the center with a diamond, like so:
The first kill you get with a Shard in your inventory binds that shard to the killed entity. It will only receive souls from that entity from then on. To speed up the process, you can right click a Mob Spawner that contains the bound entity to increase it's stored amount by 200 (configurable).
Modpacks:
In 1.8+, the mod has been re-licensed as MIT. Do as you wish with it. If you ask if the mod can be included in a pack, you will be ignored.

Corrupted Essence, Unlike the original concept, this mod allows you to customize pretty much anything you
can think of within the mod.
Don’t like how long it takes to smelt Soulium or a Soul Shard?
You can change it in the configuration file.
Don’t want to use the new (old) mechanic?
Enable Easy Mode and it’ll revert to the old (newer) mechanic of right clicking glowstone
(Not recommended, and we will be phasing it out)

Hi there, we're running a Revelations 1.8 server with
Tinkers Construct version 1.12.2-2.9.1.65 and
SSTOW version 1.12-2.7.6-56
The config of enabling the tinkers construct soulsteal modifier is set to true, but it seems we can't add corrupted ingots to any sort of weapon. Do you know of any ways to fix this?

I'm playing on Revelations 1.8 on a server. I got a tier 2 wither skeleton soul shard and tried to right click it on a blaze spawner in the nether, it says "the shard seems to refuse the trapped soul", any fixes?
Oh and I saw someone else do this on the same server

Is there a method of automating the filling of a soul shard? I'm playing the All The Mods 3 modpack, and I would like to automate (as much as possible of) the creation of ATM stars, which requires a tier 5 soul shard. Can a "fake player" like the ExU Mechanical User fill up a Soul Shard? I wouldn't expect it to, but I would really like to know if there is any way of automatically filling it. Thanks!

how do i get or craft the soul stealer modifier i have it set to ture but i cant seem to find it in the book an non of the mob items seem to be able to be used in the part crafter to make a sword part for version 1.12.2

Hi! I'm playing SSTOW in MC 1.10 and I'm trying to change de multiblock structure. Ive already changed half of it and works but one block (Advanced Alchemical Construct) because the string is the same as other block (Thaumium). How can I add that extra info to the config file?
The block I want to use is thaumcraft:metal (ID: 4146/3).

ok, so im having a problem. When i right-click on a blaze spawner with a (verified) blaze soul shard that is tier 1 it say "the spawner seems to reject the trapped soul...or something like that" Im running revelation modpack 1.2

I am experiencing the problem that my soul cage seems to not stop. It is a tier 3 soul cage spawning vanilla skeletons. The (default) config states that it checks the light level but neither torches nor a restone lamp or redstone signal (just in case i misread the config) seem to turn it off. Could it possibly be that other mods I am using are interfering with it and causing those problems?
In the config there is an option for a soul stealer modifier (tinkers), how do you get that modifier?
